All about the Countryside Productivity Small Grants (CPSG) scheme and why you should look into it

08 Oct 2020

The farming industry is being encouraged to make use of a government grant to invest in new equipment that helps boost productivity.

The Countryside Productivity Small Grants (CPSG) scheme, now on its third and final round, is offering grants between £3,000 and £12,000 to assist in the purchase of productivity-boosting farming equipment in a bid to greatly improve the efficiency of farm businesses. This grant can be used for anything from EID Hand held recorders right up to a fixed handling system for your livestock.

This ever-popular Small Grants scheme brings a boost to farm productivity and shouldn’t be ignored. We see it as massively beneficial to make improvements in these areas, because you can soon begin to reap the rewards, such as saving time and money along with minimising environmental impact and improving yields.

In 2019, a range of new items were added to the list of key equipment available to assist in improving the environment. Other key equipment includes livestock equipment, precision farming equipment and resource management equipment.

AQM are very proud to partner with many of the biggest names in the industry such as Shearwell DataHydorIAE and Ritchie, and all our products have come recommended and thoroughly tested by our customers.

Rob Moore – Farm Manager at Somerset Farm, installed a new handling system on the last round of grants. This was designed through AQM and in conjunction with our industry partners to meet their requirements and utilises EID recording and electronic weighing of cattle.

“The new system allows us to individually record, weigh and select in excess of 30 cattle per hour, this is done in a way that is safe and efficient for the cattle and my staff and allows us to capture growth rates of the cattle to help make better decisions”

The CPSG is a substantial boost to the whole farming sector in England, with many being able to use to the grant to streamline various areas of their business, or put an eye to moving their farming towards a more sustainable direction. We would love to hear from you and assist in putting this grant to good use. With over 50 years in the agricultural sector, our extensive knowledge on the industry and the products that we have available, our agents are on hand whenever you need us.

Farmers have until midday on the 4th November to process an application to the Rural Payments Agency.
